Cerita ini berpusat di sekitar Ryuuta Sakamoto, seorang pemuda NEET (Not
in Education, Employment, or Training) dan pemain peringkat atas dalam
permainan Btooom!, sebuah permainan tempur online!
Suatu hari, ia terbangun di sebuah pulau tropis tanpa mengingat
bagaimana ia bisa sampai ke sana. Dia melihat sosok di kejauhan dan
meminta bantuan. Namun, sosok itu menjawab dengan melemparkan sesuatu
pada Ryuuta � sebuah bom "BIM". Pada saat itulah, Ryuuta akhirnya
menyadari dua hal: pertama, hidupnya dalam bahaya, kedua, dia sekarang
ada dalam dunia Btooom!
